The best practice is to cut the apples into ¼'s after peeling.
Take out and discard the cores, then slice the apples thinly.
Put the apple slices into a saucepan. Put in enough cold water to come ¼ of the way up the apples and cover with lid.
Put on the hob, and bring to the boil using a medium heat.
Once the apples are boiling, turn them down and let them simmer for approx 5 minutes with the lid on.
After the 5 minutes, take off the lid and stir vigorously. Do this until the apples break down & become a sauce.
Mix in enough sugar to taste nice, but not too sweet,(this is to your preference).
This quick and simple applesauce recipe can be used for sweet and savory dishes. Any surplus can be frozen.
